Ronald E Struxness, Executive VP
Saint Joseph Hospital

Chicago, IL 60657

Dear Mr. Struxness:

I am writing today to commend the staff of St. Joseph Hospital for the professional and compassionate care that was provided to my husband, Lawrence B. when he was hospitalized recently.
We were visiting Chicago for a 3 day weekend, when my husband became ill while visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo.  He was transported via ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital with what we were convinced was dehydration.  We soon learned that his situation was far more complex than dehydration, when he required open heart surgery three days later.

We had no familiarity with St. Joseph’s Hospital and were a little concerned that he had not been admitted to one of the larger academic institutions.  We quickly learned however that it is not the size or national reputation of a health care facility that matters, as much as the philosophy of the institution.
My husband received excellent care from Drs. Lewis, Bradshaw and Breyer.  In addition, we would like to express our gratitude to the extra special attention that we received from Kim Gough, R.N.
Every Member of your staff that provided support to my husband on the Telemetry unit and CCU, was professional and supportive.  The situation was intensified for us because we were not close to home, however I would venture to say that the care my husband received certainly would compare with and perhaps may even surpass the care he would have received in Pittsburgh.

Sincerely,

Denise B.
